Rob Gronkowski (back) got in his second straight limited practice Thursday.

The fact that Gronk is getting the same "limited" tag as Danny Amendola is absurd, as Amendola has already guaranteed he'll play Sunday — at near 100 percent, no less — while all signs suggest Gronk will sit. It's just typical Patriots injury subterfuge. Gronk could debut before the month is through, but it won't be this Sunday.

Rob Gronkowski (back) is listed as doubtful for Thursday night's game against the Jets.

He's not going to play. Zach Sudfeld, who is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, and Michael Hoomanawanui will fill in for at least another week. We'll start tracking Gronkowski hard next week when there's a real chance he suits up for the Week 3 tilt against the Bucs. The Patriots need him badly.

Profootballtalk puts Rob Gronkowski's (back) odds of returning in Week 3 at closer to 25 percent than 50-50.

ESPN's Ed Werder reported Tuesday morning that Gronk is 50-50 to return against the Bucs. The truth is, no one outside Patriots Park has any real idea of when Gronk is actually going to suit up. He'll likely be listed as "limited/questionable" on this week's injury report after being tagged as "limited/doubtful" in Week 2. Week 4 remains Gronk's most realistic return date, but Sunday shouldn't be ruled out. The Pats kick off at 1ET, making things easier for fantasy owners.

Profootballtalk.com reports Rob Gronkowski (back) is closer to doubtful than questionable for Sunday's Week 3 game against Tampa Bay.

Gronkowski is listed as questionable on this week's injury report after being listed as doubtful the first two weeks. He's been practicing on a limited basis since Week 1. The expectation is that the Patriots will hold Gronkowski out for another week and bring him back for next week's game against Atlanta.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports Rob Gronkowski's (arm surgeries) continued absence from game day but participation in practice has created "tension among teammates," who have begun questioning why Gronk isn't playing.
Werder writes that at least some teammates have wondered "if (Gronk) intends to play at all this season, according to multiple sources." Said one source, "There's curiosity and resentment, and he's creating it by going out and kicking ass during the week and then he doesn't show up on game day and help the team win." Inarguably, there are "trust issues" between the Patriots and Gronkowski's camp because the team cleared him to return too soon last season, and he re-broke his arm in the playoffs. Gronkowski has reportedly been "dominant" on the practice field, where some contact is allowed. Added a second source, "If he's not playing in games, he damn sure should not be doing what he is in practice."

Rob Gronkowski's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says his client has "now been cleared by all his doctors to play on Sunday in the Jets game."
Here we go. The return of Gronk is imminent and sounds as if it will happen this week against the division rival Jets. Gronkowski (back, forearm) has been practicing on a limited basis for over a month now. The forearm is what has been holding him hostage. Gronkowski reportedly had some concerns about rushing back after he did the same thing last season and re-fractured the arm. It was time for a decision to be made, however, and now we'll have to see how many snaps he's going to play. Gronkowski is a must-start in fantasy immediately. He's going to be a big help to the Patriots' struggling red-zone offense.

A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that it's "still not a definite" Rob Gronkowski (questionable, arm) will play against the Jets, as of Sunday morning.
As of this timestamped update, we'll know the Patriots' inactives in about an hour and a half. Profootballtalk reports the decision "will be made by coach Bill Belichick," which confirms Gronkowski has received medical clearance from his independent opinion (Dr. James Andrews) and his availability will now be back on the team. PFT does believe "it's a safe bet that Gronkowski will play." No media outlet has had a better, more accurate read on Gronk's status than Profootballtalk.com throughout this entire ordeal.

Rob Gronkowski (forearm, back) is active for Week 7 against the Jets.
The saga is finally over. It's possible Gronk will be on a snap count, but via ESPN's Josina Anderson, a Patriots source "totally would not be surprised if he blows up today." Gronk returns, at worst, as an immediate top-five option. Inactive for the Patriots are WR Danny Amendola, CB Aqib Talib, KR/RB Leon Washington, DT Tommy Kelly, CB Tavon Wilson, OG Chris Barker and WR Josh Boyce.

Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) was limited in practice Wednesday.
Gronkowski is in no danger of missing Week 8 after he returned to play 51-of-79 snaps last week in his season debut against the Jets. With Jimmy Graham's (foot) status up in the air this week, Gronk is the No. 1 fantasy tight end.

Patriots placed TE Rob Gronkowski on injured reserve with a torn right ACL and MCL, ending his season.
TE D.J. Williams has been re-signed in a corresponding roster move. Gronk also suffered a concussion on the hit that tore up his knee, sending him into the offseason in exceedingly rough shape. The serious injury is just the latest for a player who's undergone five surgeries in the past 13 months, and missed his entire junior year of college after undergoing a back operation. Gronk is still only 24, but it's fair to wonder if he can overcome yet another major injury to remain the historically dominant tight end he's been through the first four years of his career. You can compensate for only so many ailments. Gronk should be considered highly questionable for Week 1 2014. His $3.75 million base salary is fully guaranteed.
